Mage Food- Miso Ramen

I'm going to share with you the most basic of ramen recipes, and I don't mean that in the negative street connotation of the word. The full recipe is found on Steamy Kitchen, so hop on over there if you're interested in seeing the ramen in all it's glory.

Serves 4

Ingredients:
10oz dried ramen noodles
8 cups pork or vegetable broth
4 tablespoons shiro miso paste
1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce

These are what I use.

Directions:
Cook your ramen noodles according to package instructions. Mine were in Japanese, so I just cooked them until I felt good about them (about three minutes). Drain and rinse your noodles in cold water to stop the cooking process. Put your noodles into your bowls.

In a large pot, add the stock and soy sauce. Bring to a boil over high heat. Remove your pot from the heat and stir in the miso paste. Taste your soup and add in another 1-2 tablespoons of miso if your tastebuds crave it. Add your soup to your noodle bowls. Add in any vegetables, meat, eggs if you so desire.

I buy BBQ pork from a local Chinese restaurant to add to my ramen.

And that's it!! This has been hitting the spot on these chilly nights lately. Let me know if you try it!

Mage Food- Meatloaf

Its been a while since I've posted a recipe. I have been trying to cook more, so I suspect more recipes will be making an appearance around here :) Today's recipe is for meatloaf, and I would like to preface this by saying that I am not a meatloaf fan. Not by any stretch of the imagination. But my husband is, so I thought I'd try my hand at making one for the first time ever the other day. I combined a couple of different recipes to make it my own, and I have to say, this is a meatloaf I would actually eat again. I apologize for the lack of photos, but I'm sure you all know what a meatloaf looks like :)

Ingredients:

For the loaf:
*1lb lean ground beef
*1/2 cup of bread crumbs (I used plain bread crumbs, but you can use the flavored kind)
*1/4 cup ketchup
*1/2 teaspoon onion powder
*1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
*1/2 teaspoon salt
*1/2 teaspoon pepper
*1 egg

For the glaze:
*1/3 cup ketchup
*2 tablespoons mustard (I used just a basic yellow, but again, its your choice)
*2 tablespoons brown sugar

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Prepare your baking pan. I put aluminum foil in mine and it made clean up a breeze. Pan type is your preference, but I used a small glass loaf pan to cook mine. If you have talent (which I don't), you can use a regular cookie sheet and shape your loaf right on it.

Combine all your loaf ingredients in a medium or large bowl. Make sure its all mixed together really well. Then put your mixture onto your tray or into your pan.

Mix your glaze ingredients in a small bowl, making sure the sugar gets really well blended. Then spread your glaze over the top of your loaf.

Bake your meatloaf for about an hour, or until you can see that your meat is firm and cooked all the way (I put a lot of sauce on mine, so I cooked mine for a little longer, just to  make sure).

Pull it out of the oven and enjoy :)

If you try this recipe, let me know!

Mage Food: Pot Roast Nachos

A few years ago while visiting Las Vegas, I went to Roxy's Diner inside the Stratosphere. It was cute and 50's inspired, and they had all these great combinations of food that I hadn't heard of. I ordered their Pot Roast Nachos (which, if click the link above, are no longer on their menu), and they were delicious. I've made them a few times since then here at home, and thought I would share my recipe with you. Happy eating!

You will need:
*a crock pot to cook your roast in
*a roast
*a package of dry onion soup mix
*a can of Cream of Mushroom soup
*a bottle of Nacho Cheese (I like Tostitos Salsa Con Queso)
*a can of Chili with Beans
*Sour cream, olives, jalapenos, whatever you like to use as nacho toppings
Note: I didn't put specific can sizes because you change it up to fit the size of your family or party. The more you need, the bigger the can. This recipe is very adjustable.

Before anything, you will need to cook your pot roast.

Place your roast, the dry onion soup mix, the cream of mushroom soup and one soup can full of water into your crock pot. Mix it up a little, and make sure the roast gets covered in the mixture. Set your crock pot's heat to low and let it cook for eight (8) hours. Yes. Eight hours.

When your roast is about done, put your beans and cheese on the stove to heat (low heat and in separate pots preferably). Once they're to desired heat, pull your roast out, slice it up and you're ready to go. I use Doritos Nacho Cheese chips for my nachos, because my kids like them better than regular tortilla chips. But I had them with tortilla chips at the Stratosphere, and the first few times I made them at home I also used tortilla chips, and they came out just fine, so its really just a matter of preference.

If you try these out, let me know what you think! Even if you don't use the pot  roast, but just try the Dorito chips in your recipe. This is a relatively quick meal to make, and with so many ways to make it, its usually a crowd pleaser :)

Mage Food- Slow Cooked Oven Made Ribs

Mages are the vending machines of WoW. They supply health and mana goodies for their groups. So I thought I would share some recipes with you to make for your family or friends. Maybe pop it in on raid night so you don't get hungry spouse/child aggro. Let me know what you think!

Slow Cooked Oven Made Ribs

You'll Need:
*a rack of ribs
*18oz Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory and Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce
*aluminum foil
*glass baking pan

Directions:
Defrost your ribs the night before. Trying to fast thaw ribs is nasty. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line your glass baking pan with aluminum foil. Pan size should be determined by the size of your rack of ribs. You want the ribs to fit completely into the pan for best results. Place your ribs in the pan so it looks like a rainbow (arched). Liberally apply the barbecue sauce to the ribs (you will use most of the bottle of sauce by the end of this). Then flip the ribs over and repeat application of barbecue sauce. Once you've finished  putting the on the sauce, completely cover the ribs in aluminum foil. Place your ribs in the over on the center rack and let them cook for three hours. Check them around the two and a half hour mark just to be sure (oven temperatures can vary).

Enjoy!
