Monday Mix Up #24

Here are some links to help you procrastinate your Monday away- enjoy!!

*I thought this was a joke (it was published on April Fool's Day), but say hello to the Double Dose Twins!

*Someone made a real Glock look like the gun from Duck Hunt. I'm not here to debate any political gun stances, I just think it looks neat.

*Can Super Mario Maker inspire children to learn to code/design games? Nintendo helps a library full of kids in SF figure it out.

*The biggest, free legacy server for World of Warcraft, Nostalrius (which I played on occasionally), was shut down by Blizzard for violating it's terms of service. This topic will more than likely be a WoW Wednesday, but I thought I'd share it now. The hate for Blizzard on social media has been unreal the past week.

*I usually save videos for my Monday Mixtapes, but I thought I'd share this one because the song has been stuck in my head. It's a little bit Lonely Island, alotta bit NSFW. Here's 3OH!3 with My Dick:

Monday Mix Up #23 (Not Entirely Suitable for Work)

Hey! Its the first Monday Mix Up since some time last year! I'm still deciding whether or not I want to keep this, but for now, today's list is all about hate mail** disguised as April Fool's pranks. Now, we're pretty close to April Fool's Day, so having these shipped now might be too late, but you can totally replicate some of these at home! So if you have a frenemy, or just someone you just straight up don't like, use April Fool's Day to release some of your pent up dislike in the form of snail mail hijinks.

Shipyourenemiesglitter.com
Glitter is the herpes of the art world. Let glitter be the herpes of your rude co-worker's cubicle, so they can be reminded for weeks that someone doesn't care for them. For $9.99, this company will send an envelope of glitter, along with a note telling them why they're receiving it. Ships worldwide, and they have an April Fool's Day shipping option. It's anonymous, so the only way that person will know that you sent them the glitter is if you tell them, or tell someone else that can't keep a secret.

Dicksbymail.com
Someone posted the Refinery29 article that talked about this site on my husband's Facebook wall the other day as a joke, but I bookmarked it for a rainy day lol. Actually, there's this girl that's trying really hard to get my husband's attention (when she should be focused on her own husband), and I don't like it. She's the type of person I would totally send this to, except she commented on the post about how much she wanted a bag! So I can't send her one because it would make her happy, but I want to, because shes a...not nice person. Anyway, for $15 (and probably some shipping and tax), you can send a bag of gummy dicks anonymously to whoever you feel needs one.

If you want to one stop shop for your prank/hate mail, visit this site! They have gummy dicks, glitter bombs, and apparently, realistic poop in a box. Yuck. I can visualize myself sending people edible appendages, but I don't think I could stoop so low as to send feces (even the fake kind that just smells real). But maybe you can :) And I won't judge you for it. Because people can wrong you in so many different ways, and maybe your person deserves poop. You also have the option to make the poop glittery, in case the object of your mail rage is a real butthead. There are also boxes filled with sand and butthurt care packages. And just like the others, this site also sends anonymously.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of April Fool's Day. I've always been pretty gullible, so a whole day devoted to pranks and jokes is not good for a person like me. But hopefully this little list put a smile on your face. You probably won't ever have the need to utilize these services, but isn't it nice to know that they exist?

**I don't support the act of hate mail in any form, and these are relatively harmless things (except that poop, that's just gross). You can even send them to friends if they have that type of humor (and you warn them first).**

Monday Mix Up #22

Where have these been?!? Its been months since a Monday Mix Up has been done. I have been slacking.....there is just no other reason.

I've been in a bit of a midyear slump, I suppose. Most of the New Year's goals I've set for myself are more than likely not going to happen, plus some other personal things have been taking their toll. So keeping in line with some changes that I'm looking to make to get out of my slump- here is a little list to help procrastinate your Monday and maybe jump start any changes you've been wanting to make :)

*Spicy Tuna Melts from A Beautiful Mess.
I made these the other day and they were delicious!

I have signed up to do the September 30 Days of Lists
Sign up before Sept. 1st and you receive an awesome digital listing kit.
Amy and Kam always do a great job with these projects- I can't wait for this one to start!

If you're like me, and need a little nudge when it comes to cleaning,
Clean Mama can help you out! Her free printable gives you a schedule
that helps you stay on track.

If you ever feel lost at the grocery store, this list from
The Every Girl is a pretty good start. Adjust as needed to fit your family size.

This shirt from Mulberry Press Co is awesome.
Sometimes its easy to give up on your dreams.
You shouldn't.

Shake It Off- Taylor Swift
Its just so catchy! Its great for motivating you to keep going.

And this isn't goal oriented, but sometimes you need a little fun too! This is a Cards Against Humanity inspired game based on John and Hank Green. Super fun for the Nerdfighters out there! Visit this site to print your copy of the cards.

Happy Monday! I hope you all have an incredible week :)

Monday Mix Up #21

Happy Monday everyone! In honor of my starting the Blog Life e-course done by the super talented sisters Elsie and Emma of A Beautiful Mess, I have decided to make this Monday Mix Up all about blogging!

This e-course is priced at $50, which is not cheap. But it comes with a lot of their personal experiences peppered with valuable advice on how to make a living off your blog. They also give you cute printables to take notes on :)

I randomly stumbled upon Alexa Poletti through IG the other day, and was surprised that one of her latest blog posts was so in tune with what I was thinking about in terms of my own blog. While her guide focuses more on fashion and beauty blogging (because thats what she blogs about), there are still some tips that can translate to any type of blog you're writing.

I read this book while starting my blog last year. Its what prompted my almost immediate URL change (oops!). It has a lot of really good advice in it, and I will be re-reading it again soon (probably after Elsie and Emma's e-course). I recommend this book if you want to learn a lot of blogging basics.

And here's a picture of Neil Patrick Harris as Doogie Howser- the OG of bloggers.
Anyone else love this show? I still do.

Monday Mix Up #17

Happy March Everyone! Its birthday month here (my children and I are all March babies), so I happen to like this month quite a bit :) My grandma was also born in March (her birthday is the day after mine), so this month is also really hard for me because it just highlights how much I miss her. Monday Mix Up #15- Inspiration from Drew Barrymore and a Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I love Drew Barrymore. If I were ever to meet a famous person and like, be able to hang with them for a day, she is who I'd like to hang with. I had been reading all the press on her new book,Find It in Everything, and it really got me thinking about hearts. I have always been pretty anti-Valentine's Day (chalk that up to my unpopularity and not having a boyfriend until the ripe old age of 16), but its the holiday I like to shop for the most. I love all the hearts and pinks and purples. While her book focuses mostly on those unintentional hearts (like when you lift a pretzel out of a bag and you're like, "hey, its a heart!"), below are some of my pictures that were inspired by her book.

This one I got lucky with this one (do you see it?).
I took this in San Luis Obispo back in July 2013.

Me and my daughter eating heart candy at the car wash.

Cleaning under the couch the other day.

Random pile at my house.

Also check out her Instagram @drewbarrymore and #finditineverything. You'll see some other great heart inspirations.

+++++++

I love the book and the idea behind it so much that I am giving away a copy to one of you fantastic readers! Rules are simple - do all or some of the Rafflecopter things down below, and in a week a winner will be chosen. Once a winner is chosen, they will be contacted by email (so make sure I have that). If you are chosen, you will have 48 hours from the time I email you to respond to the email. If there is no response in that time, a new winner will be chosen. Because of shipping costs, the contest is only open to US addresses only. So that means if you live internationally you can still enter. However, you must have an address in the United States that I can ship to. This is not a sponsored giveaway. It is not affiliated with Drew Barrymore or her publishing company in any way. I purchased this book specifically for this giveaway.

Thank you for entering and good luck!!!

PS While the Datevitation giveaway is now over (winner should be contacted by Datevitation shortly), my discount code is still active! Enter MISSTELLS or $10 off and free shipping, good until February 27th, 2014.

Monday Mix Up #14

Hello and Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! My daughter is having surgery this morning, and I am an anxious mommy (but trying to hide it for her sake). The posts for this week will mostly be queued (which is my standard), but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone wants to think that I'm taking time away from her to be on the computer. I will be checking my email and Instagram occasionally from my phone though, so if you need to reach me, that's the best way. Today's mix up is dedicated to wishes and dreams, as Dr. King had a big one for all of mankind, that while it has become true in some ways (desegregation) is still not in others (discrimination, racism). And while I don't think humanity will ever be completely rid of those things, it wouldn't hurt to tone it down a little bit.

"Its a world of laughter/A world of tears.
Its a world of hope/And a world of fears.
There's so much that we share/ That its time
we're aware/ Its a small world after all."

B.oB. ft Hayley Williams- Airplanes

Monday Mix Up #13

Happy Monday everyone! Today's list in dedicated to Childish Gambino, one of my favorite rappers ever. His new album, Because the Internet, drops tomorrow and in celebration, I am sharing my favorite CG videos with you. I'm sure I've posted some of these before, but they're awesome enough to be seen again :)

1) Heartbeat. Pretty much my favorite song by him.

2) 3005. This is from Because The Internet.

3) Lights Turned On. This isn't a video, but just listen to the song.

4) Freaks and Geeks. My second pretty much favorite song by him.
And I know I've shared this before :)

This is the Troy and Abed Christmas Rap from Season 3 of Community.
You can bet you'll be seeing this again later this month too.

Go buy Because The Internet! Enlighten yourself with intelligent rap.

Monday Mix Up #12

I've had Christmas on the brain ever since I saw the Christmas decorations sitting on the edges of the Halloween decorations, like they were ready to pounce and have a good old fashioned holiday throwdown. There will probably be a lot of Monday Mix Ups from now until Christmas Day dedicated to all things Christmas. So here's the first of many :)

These are some things I've been eyeballing for my personal Christmas list:

These locks from Marla Aaron Jewelry. I love how they're just carabiners, but fancied up. And those heart ones are super adorable.

Kawaii Marvel Leggings from welovefine.

This camo Hello tee by Hello Apparel

One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book
Found on Amazon (I've also seen this in the notebook section at Target); a fun, low key way to keep track of life's little happenings for five years.

The 20/20 Experience: The Complete Experience
I love me some Justin Timberlake.

What's on your Christmas wish list?
