Today's topic is a tough one for me- if there is a book or movie that inspires your life, what would it be and why?
Well, I don't have just one. I have a lot of books and a lot of movies that mean a lot to me for a lot of different reasons, and I wouldn't say that any of them directly inspires my life. But, I will say that The Diary of Anne Frank has been one of my favorites since I was young, and her story is very inspiring.
Anne remained so optimistic, even while in hiding. The most horrible things were happening to her, her family, their friends....and she still held out hope that they would survive, and be able to return to their normal lives someday. Unfortunately for Anne, only her father would be able to return home after the war. The rest of the people they were in hiding with (Anne included), passed away while in Nazi controlled concentration camps. Anne's diary is a beautiful legacy, and sometimes when people are really crappy, and I want to stew in serious dislike for them, I'm reminded of what Anne wrote. "I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart." If she could believe that while enduring the Holocaust, I think we should be able to now.
