Choose you favorite quote. Why did you choose it and how does it inspire you?
My all time, hands down favorite quote is this: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." It's from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and while Matthew Broderick's character was mostly using that as validation for skipping school with his best friend and his girlfriend, its actually pretty true. We live in such a fast paced world (much more now than in the 80's when that movie was made), and everyone wants everything now now now. And then we get it and its like, that's it? Then we're moving on to the next thing, and there's no appreciation for anything. And everyone is always on their phones trying to get the best photo for Instagram or constantly tweeting and updating their FB status.....it seems like nobody is enjoying what's next to them anymore, they just like what's on the screen. So I like what Ferris said, and I try to put the phone down while I'm out doing stuff, so I can actually enjoy what I'm doing. I try to write a few blog posts at a time so I'm not always at the computer.
And this quote is a bonus, but its my dad quoting John Lennon, "Life is what happens when you're making other plans." I say that because I'm pretty sure John's lyrics are a little different. Anyway, the message is the same, life is going to do what it wants, no matter how much you plan for it. You might get your way sometimes, and other time you might not. You just have to deal with it. I can tell you that for several years now, things have not gone my way at all. I'm hoping that will change soon, because I really don't know how much more I can take. But I have to think that at the end of the day, all this bad luck is preparing me for something good. And maybe life is happening to me because I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
My favorite quote that I can think of right now is "Nothing worth having comes easy" from the TV series, Scrubs. I just love it. I love your favorite quote as well. You just have to live life in the moment! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe quote I always remember is "Life is about making an impact, not making an income" –Kevin Kruse. I can never agree with this quote. I'd like to challenge people try making an impact without money nowadays.
ReplyDeleteMy current fave quote (and current inspiration):
ReplyDelete"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone"
I agree with that quote. In today's day and age, everyone is focused on getting things done quickly. Drive throughs, electric appliances, etc, rule our lives. We need to stop and enjoy life sometimes!
